Lord Donaldson, Master of the Rolls - head of the civil division of the Court of Appeal, and the second most senior judge in England and Wales - leaving the Law Courts, London, yesterday. Lord Donaldson has announced that he is to retire this summer, stepping down six days before his 72nd birthday in September.
