Health minister Matt Hancock answers questions from MPs a day after England eased restrictions to curb Covid-19 infections. England and Wales has recorded the lowest number of deaths with Covid-19 on the certificate since October, with a total of 400 deaths registered in the week ending 2 April.
According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the figure is down 44 per cent on the previous week’s total, although the ONS said the number of deaths registered was affected by the Good Friday bank holiday.
