Milly Dowler family to meet David Cameron over phone hacking

The family of murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler will meet Prime Minister David Cameron tomorrow to discuss the Government's response to phone hacking, Downing Street said.

A spokesman said the Media Standards Trust charity - which had initially arranged talks with Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg - had requested that the premier also now attend.

Milly's parents Bob and Sally Dowler are suing the News of the World over claims their daughter's phone was targeted when she went missing in 2002.

Reports of that hacking case kicked off the public outrage which resulted in the newspaper's closure and the announcement by Mr Cameron yesterday of a public inquiry into the scandal.

Now the teenager's family are joining campaigners such as actor Hugh Grant in talks with the senior government figures over the shape of that probe and a second into press regulation.

The charity led the Hacked Off campaign for a public inquiry.
