Most MPs back lobby register

More than half of Coalition MPs would back the creation of a lobbying register that includes trade bodies, NGOs and charities, according to a new poll.

Sixty-eight per cent of Tory MPs and 75 per cent of Liberal Democrats voiced support for measures which would see organisations involved in lobbying declared on record.

Only 38 per cent of Labour MPs supported the inclusion of trade unions, and 10 per cent of MPs said that no lobbyist should be included. The poll, conducted by the Populus Parliament Panel, surveyed 113 MPs.
