OPTED-OUT SCHOOLS: 930 schools have gone grant-maintained, Robin Squire, Parliamentary Under Secretary for Education, told Win Griffiths (Lab, Bridgend). Of those 594 are secondary schools covering 17.6 per cent of the state secondary school population and 336 are primaries covering 2 per cent of the primary school population.
