VAT: The latest estimated yield for an extension of value-added-tax, at 17.5 per cent, to children's clothing, domestic and international passenger transport, food and books, newspapers and magazines would exceed pounds 11bn for the current financial year, Sir John Cope, Paymaster General, told Clive Betts (Lab, Sheffield Attercliffe).
