POLICE NOTES: Loose-leaf sheets previously used by the RUC for note-taking in interviews with terrorist suspects had been replaced by booklets time-stamped on issue and at the completion of each interview, and additional action had been taken to safeguard stored interview notes, Michael Mates, a Northern Ireland minister, told Seamus Mallon (SDLP, Newry and Armagh).
