DALAI LAMA: The Foreign Secretary will meet the Dalai Lama during a private visit to the UK in May if a suitable time can be found, Alastair Goodlad, foreign office minister of state, said.

DIPLOMATS: 45 diplomats of First Secretary rank or above have gained direct industrial or commercial experience through attachments to companies during their careers, Mr Goodlad said; 669 have trained for and carried out overseas commercial work.
