POLLUTION: A proposal to compile a register of contaminated land was being withdrawn after substantial criticism from property companies and the building industry, Michael Howard, Environment Secretary, told Warren Hawksley (C, Halesowen & Stourbridge). There would be a new, wide- ranging review 'of the problems in this area', he said.
