ARMED FORCES: In 1992-93, 24,616 personnel left before the end of their contracts, including those leaving on redundancy terms, Jeremy Hanley, the armed forces minister, said.

DISABILITY: Of the 50,000 potential claimants originally envisaged as entitled to disability working allowance, only 3,176 actually receive it, Nicholas Scott, the social security minister, said.
