ARMY CUTS: Some 623 Army officers are to be made compulsorily redundant as part of the 1,311 officers' jobs to be shed in 1993-94. In the Royal Navy, 69 officers and 80 ratings will be made compulsorily redundant among the 436 officers and 836 ratings to be made redundant between 1 April and 30 November next year, Archie Hamilton, Minister of State for the Armed Forces, said.

MILK CHECKS: Checks on milk imports from EC states will be dropped from 1 January under regulations laid before Parliament yesterday, David Curry, Minister of State for Agriculture, said.
