MY PAY UNIT: The Army pay and personnel unit, with 1,300 staff, is to be relocated to Glasgow. Archie Hamilton, the Minister for the Armed Forces, said that city represented 'the best possible value for money' of the sites considered. 'The aim will be to complete the relocation during 1995,' he added.
FRONTIER CONTROLS: An order is to be laid before Parliament shortly to provide legal backing for policing and frontier controls for the Channel tunnel, Nicholas Soames, the food minister, said. The order will adapt current procedures at UK ports of entry for use at the tunnel.
