NORTHERN IRELAND: A Police Authority analysis shows that 200 compensation claims were finalised in the three years up to and including 1991-92, leading to payments in 123 cases, Sir Patrick Mayhew, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, said. Alleged assault was a ground for compensation in 27 cases; the rest related to wrongful arrest, false imprisonment, loss of property or other causes.
