Police 'were wrong' over cycle charge
A judge yesterday criticised police for prosecuting a man for riding his bicycle on the pavement when others were being given cautions for offences such as burglary. Judge Daniel Rodwell told Luton Crown Court: 'What in God's name was going on . . . This is a classic case where an official caution should have been given and by failing to do that the police have wasted thousands of pounds of public money.'
