BENEFITS AGENCY: The Government will not be privatising or scrapping the Benefits Agency, which calculates and pays out social security benefits, Peter Lilley, Secretary of State for Social Security, announced last night. He said an evaluation of the agency's first four years found it was best to keep distribution of benefits in the public sector.
