A Labour MP has received a death threat from an alleged anti-abortion activist telling her one day she will die like Jo Cox.

Walthamstow MP Stella Creasy tweeted a picture of the handwritten note sent from an address in London, which claimed she will "burn in hell" for the "murder of small babies".

Ms Creasy tabled an amendment to the Queen's Speech to allow Northern Irish women access to NHS-funded abortions in Great Britain.

Following the proposed amendment, the government announced the policy change so that Northern Irish women will be able to access free abortions in the English NHS.

This was shortly followed by similar decisions from the Scottish Government and the Welsh First Minister Carwyn Jones.

Abortion is illegal in Northern Ireland in all but exceptional circumstances, even in cases of rape and incest.

In the letter to Ms Creasy, the anti-abortion campaigner said: "Stella Creasy, you are a murder(er) of small babies. You will all burn in hell for this awful sin. One day hopefully you will join that woman Cox."

Jo Cox, the MP for Bately and Spen and a mother of two, was stabbed and shot by a far right extremist in her constituency last year.

Thousands of people commemorated the first anniversary of her death on 16 July 2016 by holding events all across the country.

A plaque with the motto "more in common" was erected by her children in the House of Commons last month.

Responding to the tweet, Ms Creasy said: "Pro lifer send me hate mail about how I should die like my friend Jo Cox? No, that's just #notcricket....#noshittakingmp."

Following Ms Cox's death, Ms Creasy said in a tribute she had lost "a real friend" and described the Labour MP as the "warmest and kindest person you could ever meet".
