LINDI ST Clair, Corrective Party leader and campaigner for legalised and regulated prostitution, is seeking permission to speak during Tuesday's conference debate on prostitution, writes Patricia Wynn Davies.

The approach, backed by Student Liberal Democrats, has caused the conference committee hastily to convene a meeting this morning to decide whether Ms St Clair should be called to speak even though she is not a party member.

Paul Simpson, Student Liberal Democrats' chairman, has already put down a lengthy amendment to the motion for debate, couched in far stronger language, and calling for prostitution to be legalised. He said: 'She has more qualification to speak than anyone else here, including me.'
