The Government confirmed plans to extend Sunday opening hours during the Olympics, leading to predictions of almost £200m in extra spending by shoppers.
The current restriction of six hours trading for larger stores will be lifted for eight Sundays from July 22. The Government said the Games were a "unique" opportunity to boost opportunities for retailers.
Shopping comparison website Kelkoo said that spending would increase by around £24m each Sunday if the store opening times increased by just four hours.
