The Princess of Wales looks set to spend Christmas apart from her sons, Prince William, 10, and Prince Harry, 8. She has turned down the Queen's invitation to join the rest of the Royal Family at Sandringham in Norfolk.

She is expected to stay with her brother, Earl Spencer, and his children at Althorp House in Northamptonshire.
