Two 'dangerous' prisoners escaped yesterday when an unescorted minibus taking them to court was hijacked by an armed gang.
Patrick Conroy, 34, and David Glover, 26, both allegedly involved in a gangland feud, were due before Newcastle upon Tyne magistrates for further remand on kidnapping charges.
They started a fight and as two getaway cars came alongside in Gateshead one of them forced the minibus to crash by wrenching the handbrake.
