Correction

In Saturday's profile of the railwaymen's leader, Jimmy Knapp, we stated incorrectly that Sir Bob Reid, chairman of British Rail, was also chairman of a London health authority. In fact, Sir Robert Reid, who was chairman of the West Lambeth Health Authority when Mr Knapp attended St Thomas' Hospital, is the former chairman of BR. His namesake is the current chairman of BR.
