London's air is substantially dirtier than the Government claims, according to a report published by the capital's 33 boroughs yesterday.
The report, co-authored by the South East Institute of Public Health, says air pollution data collected by the boroughs often disagreed with the Department of the Environment's results, collected from five main monitoring stations in central London.
The boroughs say air pollution can be as bad in the suburbs as in central London, or worse. They call for an integrated network of continuous monitoring stations covering the entire capital.
