More than 6,000 dead seabirds were found during a survey at the weekend of 2,000 miles of British coastline - a fourfold increase on last year. The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds said it was sticking by its estimate that about 75,000 birds, mostly guillemots, had died of starvation in recent weeks.
