Seven die in road crashes

Three people died in a road crash involving six vehicles on the A1 at Sandy, Bedfordshire, last night.

In Conisbrough, near Doncaster, three people died when their BMW collided with the parapet of a railway bridge on Doncaster Road. They were Andrew and Dean Woodward, 29 and 26, both of Mexborough, and Christine Wood, 31, of Leeds. On the M1 at Long Eaton, Derbyshire, Amanda Hall, 19, of Rotherham, South Yorkshire, died when a minibus hit a bridge.
