Winston Silcott, cleared of killing PC Keith Blakelock during the 1985 Broadwater Farm riots but jailed for life for murdering Anthony Smith, a boxer, in 1984, was yesterday given the go-ahead by the High Court to challenge the Home Secretary's refusal last January to refer his conviction to the Court of Appeal.
