TWO British soldiers were killed yesterday when their Lynx helicopter crashed during an exercise near the Moselle river between Mayen and Polch in Germany. The names of the soldiers, from 1 Regiment Army Air Corps based at Gutersloh, were being withheld until relatives were informed.
'We are not aware of the cause of the crash,' a Ministry of Defence spokesman said. 'However, the Lynx has an excellent safety record.' An Army board of inquiry was set up.
