Soldiers hurt in flurry of violence
Two soldiers were seriously wounded in an IRA mortar attack yesterday, one incident among a flurry of violence and disturbance in Belfast. In another attack a Chinese woman was shot and seriously injured. The situation at the city's Crumlin Road jail was calm, largely due to assurances that those involved in Thursday's protest would not be punished.
The soldiers were caught in a mortar blast in west Belfast. They suffered face and head injuries. Last night they were in a stable condition.
