A SOLICITOR who stole nearly pounds 150,000 from his clients was jailed for two and a half years. Basil Mellon, 68, who headed a law firm in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, used clients' money to prop up a financial venture which fell into debt, Teesside Crown Court was told.
