A 17-year-old appeared in court accused of the murder of Stephen Lawrence, 18, who was stabbed last month in Eltham, south-east London. The boy was also jointly accused with a 16-year-old of the attempted murder of a second person, Stacey Benefield, four weeks earlier. The 17-year-old was remanded in custody and the 16-year-old was remanded into secure accommodation.
