Scotland Yard fraud squad is investigating the disappearance of up to pounds 6m from the rock star Sting's personal bank accounts.

A Yard spokeswoman said yesterday that Sting, 41 - real name Gordon Sumner - who is said to have a pounds 20m fortune including a pounds 2m mansion in Wiltshire, made the fraud allegations several weeks ago. It was reported to include the misappropriation of royalties and other payments.
