The Sun and its former editor Kelvin MacKenzie were fined pounds 100,000 for contempt of court for publishing a photograph of a man charged with murder. At the High Court the publisher News Group Newspapers was fined pounds 80,000 and Mr MacKenzie, now at Sky TV, pounds 20,000. The man and his brother were acquitted at the Old Bailey in 1992 after lawyers argued the photograph made the identification unsafe.
