Clwyd health authority is trying to trace 147 former patients after it was discovered that a surgeon at Wrexham Maelor Hospital where they had operations was a hepatitis B carrier. Blood tests are being offered and a special helpline will be manned for the next five days.

Earlier this month, hundreds of women contacted a hotline at Stafford District General Hospital after a surgeon there was found to carry the virus.
