David Speedy, a Granada Television sound recordist who forgot to retract a 42ft transmission mast on the roof of his vehicle during work on ITV's charity Telethon sent an 11,000-volt power cable crashing on to the M6, near Knutsford, Cheshire, last July, Crewe magistrates were told. Granada was fined pounds 4,000 and Speedy pounds 100.
