TEN people died on the roads in the first day of widespread frost. Three men were killed in a four car pile-up at Rufford, near Ormskirk, Lancashire and in Derbyshire a mother, 43, died and her daughter was injured when their car hit a tree. The M1 was closed for three hours near London.
