25 May 1993: Bosko Brokic (Serb) and Admira Ismic (Muslim), both 25, sweethearts since childhood, shot dead trying to escape from Sarajevo, their home town. Both sides deny responsibility. Their bodies lay five days in no man's land, unclaimed.
Susan Bassnett lives in Leicestershire and is director of the Centre for British and Comparative Studies at the University of Warwick. Her published work has mostly been academic books and translations. Her poetry has appeared in small magazines and a new collection is now with a publisher.
