Peter Reading was born in Liverpool in 1946 and now lives in Shropshire. Since 1971, he has published 12 volumes of verse. His early collections, published by Secker & Warburg, include Diplopic (1983), C (1984) and Ukulele Music (1986), which are republished in 3 in 1 (Chatto). A new collection will be published by Chatto & Windus in February. Among his many prizes, he has been awarded the Cholmondeley Award, Dylan Thomas Award and the Whitbread Prize for Poetry.

Yesterday's poem, 'Black Dogs' by Stevan Tontic, was translated by Mary Radosavljevic.
