Lord Chancellor: Lord Mackay of Clashfern, 64, pounds 106,750.

The following cabinet members all receive a salary of pounds 63,047:

Foreign Secretary: Douglas Hurd, 63.

Chancellor of the Exchequer: Kenneth Clarke, 52.

Home Secretary: Michael Howard, 51.

President of the Board of Trade: Michael Heseltine, 60.

Transport Secretary: John MacGregor, 56.

Secretary of State for Defence: Malcolm Rifkind, 46.

Lord President of the Council and Leader of the House of Commons: Tony Newton, 54.

Secretary of State for the Environment: John Gummer, 53.

Secretary of State for National Heritage: Peter Brooke, 59.

Secretary of State for the Employment: David Hunt, 51.

Secretary of State for Social Security: Peter Lilley, 48.

Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster: William Waldegrave, 45.

Secretary of State for Scotland: Ian Lang, 52.
