Peter Sansom was born in 1958 in Nottinghamshire. He has lived in Huddersfield since 1976 where he is a director of The Poetry Business and editor of The North. His first collection Everything You've Heard Is True is published by Carcanet. This poem is from his new collection January (Carcanet, pounds 6.95).
