Aidan Carl Matthews was born in Dublin in 1956. He has published two collections of poems, Windfalls (1977) and Minding Ruth (1983). This poem originally appeared in Minding Ruth. This is the last of the series of five poems taken from the new anthology The Penguin Book of Contemporary Irish Poetry edited by Peter Fallon & Derek Mahon priced pounds 7.99.
