William Wordsworth (1770-1850) was born at Cockermouth in the Lake District; the son of an attorney, he was the second of five children. This poem was originally published in Poems in Two Volumes (1807) and appears in William Wordsworth: Selected Poetry published by Penguin at pounds 5.99. This is the last in this week's series on the theme of London.
