Frank Kuppner was born in 1951 in Glasgow. His most recent collections include The Intelligent Observation of Naked Women (Carcanet, 1987) and Ridiculous] Absurd] Disgusting] (Carcanet, 1989). This poem originally appeared in Everything is Strange (Carcanet, 1994). It is one of 67 chosen from over 140 collections and 120 individual works to form The Forward Book of Poetry 1995, to be published on 6 October, the same day as the announcement of The Forward Poetry Prizes.
