THE PHOTOGRAPHER: Caroline Lee was born in 1951 in Arusha, Tanzania. She studied Fine Art at Central St Martin's and has worked since in arts administration and on her own exhibitions. The shoes in the photograph are made of glazed stoneware.
THE POET: John Agard, the Guyanese poet, performer and story-teller, is the South Bank Centre's first writer-in-residence. He came to Britain in 1977 and his publications since then have included Limbo Dancer in Dark Glasses, Mangoes and Bullets and Lovelines for a Goat-Born Lady.
