W R Rodgers (1909-1969) born in Belfast, became a Presbyterian Minister in 1935 and served in Loughgall, Co Armagh. In 1946 he moved to London to work for the BBC. He published Awake] and Other Poems (1941) Europa and the Bull and Other Poems (1952). His Collected Poems appeared in 1971. This poem appeared in Awake] and Other Poems and is now published in Poems (Gallery Press, 1993, pounds 7.95).
