Helen Kitson is one of four poets to be shortlisted for the pounds 5,000 Forward Poetry Prize for Best First Collection. The winner will be announced on 15 November. Kitson was born in 1965, and now lives in Worcester, working for the county council. Her work has been published in various magazines including The Rialto, London Magazine, and the North. This poem is from her first collection, Seeing's Believing, published by Scratch, 9 Chestnut Road, Eaglescliff, Stockton-on-Tees, Cleveland, TS16 OBA, at pounds 2.50.
