Brendan Kennelly was born in 1936 in Co. Kerry, Ireland. He has lectured in English Literature at Trinity College, Dublin since 1963, and is now Professor of Modern Literature. He has published more than twenty books of poetry. Cromwell was originally published by Beaver Row, and Bloodaxe, and it appears in A Rage for Order, an anthology published by Blackstaff at pounds 12.95.
