Thieves cornered

Two men used a hammer, an axe, a knife and a CS gas canister to keep angry villagers at bay when they were cornered after being seen to snatch jewels from a window display of a shop in Knowle in the West Midlands. One man was arrested but police were seeking a second, who escaped.
