A man has admitted stealing photos of Prince Harry, including one of him embracing the TV presenter Natalie Pinkham, and selling them to a newspaper, it was claimed last night.

Miss Pinkham, 28, released a statement saying that an unnamed acquaintance had confessed to the theft on Saturday.

"Following media speculation, lawyers acting for the TV presenter Natalie Pinkham confirmed that she had received an e-mail from a person who bought her London flat admitting that he had taken her private photographs and sold them to a newspaper. Miss Pinkham is discussing further possible action with her lawyers to ensure that no one profits from the removal and subsequent sale of her property."

The photographs came from a set of negatives that disappeared when Miss Pinkham moved home in May. They were printed by The Sun, which was forced to apologise for claiming they were taken this summer. The pictures were more than three years old.
