Martina Evans was born in 1961 in Cork, and lives and works in London as a radiographer. Her poems have been published in Poetry Ireland Review, New Irish Writing, The Rialto and many other magazines. She was shortlisted for a Hennessey Cognac Award in 1992 and winner of the 1992 Frances Martin College Prize. This poem appears in Virago New Poets, an anthology published by Virago at pounds 5.99.
