Threat to Charles: William would become heir

IF THE SHOTS fired yesterday by David Kang had been real, Prince William might have succeeded his father as heir to the throne, writes Mary Braid.

The Queen would have continued to rule until she died, or Prince William was older and experienced enough to ascend the throne. If the Queen died before Prince William came of age, a regent would be appointed until the prince came of age.

Prince Harry is next in the line of succession after William, followed by the Duke of York, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Prince Edward and the Princess Royal.
