Three violent prisoners were last night on the run after escaping from Dartmoor jail by breaking through a roof and fleeing over the perimeter wall.

The fugitives were thought to have fled in a car before transferring to a pick-up truck.

Police named them as Jonathan Bywater, 23, sentenced to 10 years for arson; Gary Stewart, 29, serving four-and-a-half years for robbery, kidnapping and firearms offences; and Ian Patrick Stone, 23, jailed for 27 months for aggravated vehicle taking.
